Travelocity - Confirmed Reservation - No Cars Available

1.0
Details
On December 30, 2014, we called Travelocity to secure a compact car for travel in Nicaragua. We informed the Travelocity representative that we needed a compact car because my spouse had broken her foot and the car was needed as our prior plans included a fair amount of walking. The Travelocity representative e-mailed us a confirmation that our reservation was accepted and approved. It specified the time/date of rental, type of car, related fees, and other information. It included a confirmation number from Travelocity and from Payless Auto Rental. We then drove 1.5 hours ($60 taxi ride) from Granada to Managua. When we arrived at the Managua International Airport, the Payless Auto Rental representative said that there wasn't any reservation and that no cars were available. The Payless Auto Rental supervisor indicated that it was a Travelocity issue. When we contacted Travelocity, they contacted Payless Auto Rental and received the same response. The Tracelocity representative initially tried to cover up the issue by stating that their confirmation e-mail included in big red letters some disclosure that auto rentals within 24 hours of pickup were subject to availability. This couldn't be further from the truth. There is no conditional language on the confirmation whatsover. When I challenged him on this assertion (which was patently false), he said he was transferring me to a supervisor and then hung up. I will never book through Travelocity again as they are a worthless middlemen and don't honor their advertised travel guarantees.

I have recently booked a trip to Vancouver with Travelocity - hotel+flight+car rental. I also purchased a car rental insurance from Travelocity, which turned out to be a scam. Budget in Canada did not accept the insurance sold to me by Travelocity and informed me...

Travelocity - Outrageous rental car charges

I made a car rental reservation through their site for one of my employees for a business trip and was given a price of $62.72 for the car rental and $33 for the additional insurance. The insurance was pre-paid and I expected my employee to be charged $62.72 upon picking up the car. The car rental company put a $250 hold on her credit card, which was refunded a few days later. However, they also charged her $383.04 for the car rental when she turned the car in. I contacted their customer service center multiple times to get the charges reversed. Upon contacting the car rental company's accounting department, their customer service department advised me there was a $350 hold that would be reversed and that the credit should show up in 1-2 business days. After three calls and two weeks later, the charges still have not been reversed. No one is responsible, no one can help. I will NOT be doing any business through this site again! Complete rip off and horrible, horrible customer care!

Avoid Travelocity

I booked a trip through Travelocity and paid the additional costs for travel insurance (Travelguard inc.). Due to weather delays, my family was looking at being stranded in South Carolina for 4 days. I made at least 6 calls to Travelocity before I finally got a representative who's english I could understand and who was actually able to tell me how to get coverage for my travel changes. The whole process took about 3 hours. The travel insurance was worse, and they only reimbursed me for the cost of the rental car, which worked out to only $80 more than I paid out in insurance fees. Horrible customer service, high prices and even more useless insurance. In the future, I'll go back to Orbitz.

Travelocity is incompetant and dishonest.

I booked a business trip with Travelocity. It began with a language barrier, I could not understand what the agent was saying. When I politely asked to be transferred to a USA agent, I was disconnected (this happened three times throughout the course of the next three days as I tried to straighten out the botched information regarding my business trip.) Wait times were continually 20 mins + over the course of the next three days, with over 4 hours logged on the phone with Travelocity and countless phone calls, both to the USA (when someone was available) and the foreign location. Travelocity had booked my flight under an incorrect name! They tried to force me to pay for another airline ticket, claiming that I had TOLD the agent that my last name was other than what it is, how ridiculous is that? They conveniently "could not find" the recording of the conversation at which time my flight (with the incorrect last name), hotel (with the incorrect last name AND incorrect location) and rental car (with the incorrect last name) were booked. I had been told that the recording was found and being reviewed, much to my relief since this would prove that I did not ask that my reservations be made under an INCORRECT name, but alas, it disappeared... only for me to be told once again that I would have to purchase new plane tickets under the CORRECT name. I have never been so frustrated. My company (which is a multi billion dollar company) is aware of this situation - justice at some level since no one will ever use Travelocity from my company again. Oh, another example of Travelocity's incompetence, they insisted that my company credit card was in the INCORRECT name and never would admit otherwise. Travelocity is incompetent and dishonest -

I am not sure why you would call Travelocity to make reservations instead of just doing it online. Especially since you had to talk to someone with limited English skills.

That should have been a tip-off.

Personally, if I cannot understand the rep on the phone when I call any company, I do the same: ask for someone who can speak and understand English. I am rather tired of companies outsourcing customer service for US customers to some third world country whom I am unable to understand.

Travelocity Customer Support Abusive

I recently had an awful bout with a Travelocity customer support rep. I made a reservation with 4 flights, 2 hotel rooms, and one rental car. I canceled one of the hotel rooms 2 months ago and called them this week to verify that my other reservation was still good. The room Travelocity canceled was the wrong room but I had to go through Travelocity Customer Support to change it with the Ritz Carlton. I called once and the first customer service rep disconnected me after placing me on hold for 30 minutes. The second woman who picked up - Sabrina from the Vacations Dept - had the audacity to yell at me. She was trying to say she understood what I said, and in her heavily accented english, she repeated back to me what she thought I needed. I stated that she is incorrect and she started to yell, "I Understand what you're saying...you need to hold so i can...blah.." At that time, I calmy but sternly told her she may NOT yell at me and I hear a "click." She put me on hold. I am absolutely appaled that such a large, rich company would have such awfully trained customer service reps that are clearly outsourced to another country without providing proper training.

Travelocity ripped me off and cause stress during my honeymoon!

Travelocity cancelled my car rental without contacting me or refunding my money. When my husband and I arrived via air to our honeymoon destination in Naples Florida there was no car waiting for us. An employee called Travelocity for us and after three hours of calls back and forth we spent $225 for another rental. Travelocity refused to refund the money; said it was out of their control? How is that when they are the ones we booked through and they were the ones who cancelled. Our family has used them in the past but will not again for anything.
