During a trip to Fredonia, New York to attend a SUNY summer program, I needed to book a hotel room. I searched a hotel through Travelocity.
I filled out the required forms, booked the room, and then decided to get to the hotel a day earlier. I tried to call customer service, but while I was on hold, I went back through the internet to attempt to change the hotel reservation. Apparently, the first reservation was never canceled. Upon check out, the hotel billed me for not canceling the first reservation and for the room I did use.
As a result, I will never use Travelocity again. I was double billed for a hotel room, received a smoking room, and was given the same answer by every customer service agent I spoke to at Travelocity. "Sorry, for the inconvenience, please accept a voucher for a future trip. We value you as a customer." I should have searched for hotels, and called the hotel directly.
I would have saved money, gotten the room I wanted, and been happy.
Monetary Loss: $140.
