Travelocity - America's Best Value Inn & Suites on Plantation Road

I called and reserved a room for my son and his family for vacation. When they checked in the hotel was quite and they went about there way going to the beach, etc. When they arrived back at the hotel they noticed the following: *Drunk teenagers running up and down the halls. He was told that a prom was going on at the school. (The Hotel should know they are liable for kids under 21 drinking). *Truckers along the streets with *** that were staying in the hotel paying visits to the truckers that only stayed an hour. *Fights in the parking lot. So my son goes to complain to the manager which is not there, but the front desk tells him that he will have to call travelocity to get his money back since we reserved the room through them. We call and are told that they cannot do anything that we have to go to this website and fill out a complaint to have anything done and they may or may not refund money. While my son was checking out the front desk also told him that there was a gun fight last weekend between a drug dealer and pimp in the front parking lot. Someone else was complaining about leaving at the same time and they were told that they would throw out a *** that had a dance pole in the middle of her room. This is crazy why have hotels on the Travelocity website if someone can get hurt while staying there. I advise anyone that reserves a room through this website to be very cautious it could mean your life.

Travelocity - Worst booking site ever. AVOID!!!

Update by user Jan 13, 2013

UPDATE:

I got these ridiculous (maybe automated?) reply from them after complaining:

"As with any business like ours, the greatest advertising we can have is word of mouth from a satisfied customer. It’s our goal to retain you as a satisfied customer and we hope to serve you again in the future."

After you read my testimony, you'll see how RIDICULOUS it is for them to even THINK they'll keep me as a satisfied customer who will spread good word of mouth about their service...

Original review posted by user Dec 29, 2012

I'm a seasoned traveller, so hear me out. I've lived in 6 different countries and travelled to many many others. I've used lots of different websites, but I had never used travelocity until now. And by god, it's the last time I EVER use this ***. I made my booking on a Saturday morning. Everything went smoothly, I even got an itinerary and I thought everything was perfect. Then, about an hour later, I got an email saying "unable to ticket reservation", which explained that they needed to obtain some additional information from me. They gave me a number to call. I called and they said that my reservation had been cancelled by their revenue protection department. I was quite surprised, and they transferred me to them. I was greeted by a man with a very thick indian accent who didn't really seem to understand my questions. He said that the reservation was cancelled because they tried calling the bank to verify some information, but they couldn't get in touch with it. You know. Cause it's Saturday and that bank is closed. Then they said they would refund the money in 48 HOURS. So, not only did these idiots cancel my reservation because, apparently, their website should only be used on weekdays and during bank hours, but they also took my money for 48 hours, meaning I can't book on one of the other, much better websites, since I don't have that money in my account right now. I just hope that sharing my experience with you will stop you from using this piece of *** website. Pretty much every other website is better, and believe me, nowadays most websites have almost the same fees, so it's not like travelocity was the cheapest in the first place. Go to ***, travelocity.

So I jus purchased two flights with Travelocity and obviously paid and received my flight details. Then received another email saying they can't confirm the booking. So I had to go buy phone credit at a 1 US dollar a minute as I'm traveling overseas to make an international call to sort out this *** up! Had to change flights , add 12 hours in layovers to a *** 5 hour trip then pay 30 bucks to a toll free phone call and pay additional 120 bucks to change my flight!

Battles not over ! I'm gonna *** them over some how!

How can a company be in business doing this ***???

Oh, so it seems I'm not the only one whose booking couldn't be confirmed. At least yours didn't get cancelled, mine got cancelled automatically before I even got the chance to call to sort this stuff out...

I had to wait 48 hours to get my money refunded, and by the time I got to book through another (more reputable) company, the prices had increased 100 dollars.

So, travelocity made me lose 100 dollars for no reason at all. And they got the GUTS to email me afterwards saying that they hope to serve me again and that hopefully I will spread good word of mouth of the company to my friends...

Seriously?!?! What good things can I say about them?!? They didn't even apologize by giving, I dunno, a discount coupon or some ***...

Travelocity is HORRIBLE

Do not buy the insurance because you are not covered anyways!!!! Travelocity is a horrible website and will not give you good deals. THe customer service is horrible too. They will not help you at all. They also will not give you any refunds or change the date if you have any problems. If you book with travelocity be prepared to be screwed over. THey will charge you 190 dollars for rebooking and can only book within a year. It is ridiculous. Even if you have very good reasons! Do not book with travelocity unless you want to get completely screwed over. I would never ever book with them again.

Travelocity BEWARE

Travelocity does not guarantee you will get the seating you choose for airline flights, nor do they notify their customers when the airline tells them (travelocity) the chosen seating is unavailable. So you have to go to the airline website and keep checking to see if you got what you wanted, then choose (again) new seats if you don't. I will never use Traveloicity again---useless! Their reps had one slogan they kept repeating "we don't guarantee seating-you have to go the airline to do that" So the only seats left were preferred seating we had to pay extra for and the seats weren't even together.

Travelocity quotes entice you to buy, but don't tell all

Travelocity gathers all of your info, including the ages of your children and then spits out a cost for your airfare and hotel. What they don't tell you, clearly, is that the hotel may charge you extra for your children. They vaguely mention that the hotel may charge extra "fees" that are not included in the Travelocity quote and that children over 13 pay "adult rates" even though everything in the quote process leads you to believe that the quoted rate is contemplating that you're travelling with children. Only at the end of my 7 night stay did I find out that I owed an add'l $1400. When I lodged a formal complaint, they referred me to the Hilton website, where I supposedly should have had the intuition to go to find out that my teenage children were going to be charged an add'l $100 per night, each. Accept that, it doesn't quote that specific rate on their site either. Travelocity's quotes on their site are nothing more than a ruse.

Beware the Travelocity Bogus Price Guarantee

When I booked my most recent trip, the fares had been running extraordinarily high. When I found a rate, it was the same on most of the travel search websites, as well as on the airline website. I chose travelocity because they offer a price guarantee. On the main page of their website, it mentions no time limits. It does offer a link to see an example. On that link, it simply refers to a reasonable time. You have to go to the fine print (the print is so small you have to magnify the screen several times to read it) before it tells you the change must be within 24 hours. They market this guarantee aggressively without saying it is a 24 hour guarantee - deceptive advertising. As a result, I'll never use them again.

I booked a flight for my wife using Travelocity a few months ago and then saw the same exact flight for about $40 less the next day. I called Travelocity customer service and was told to fill out a form on their website.

A few hours later I received an email saying that they would credit my credit card for the $40 (which they did) and a second email with a code for $50 off my next hotel booking with Travelocity. I haven't used the code yet but it is good for a year and so will probably use it at some point.

Ticket prices change all the time, so I can understand why they choose to limit the guarantee to 24 hours. They do honor the guarantee though if you contact them in time.

Well wise customers would read all the policies which never happen.

most wise travelers never use Travelocity or Orbitz, etc. Too many problems, especially if things go awry or change. Book thru the airline or hotel websites.

Don't buy from Travelocity

Travelocity was running a deal on discounted Disney World tickets on their website, I bought them, now I wish I hadn't. I got my confirmation email from them with my trip ID code and everything... everything seemed fine. Fast-forward a few months later, the vacation is a week away, and I'm gathering together all of the confirmation codes and such to be prepared for our trip. I go on Travelocity's website, enter in our information... no record of our trip. I try calling them, and the customer service people were clueless. They had no record of our trip either, despite the fact that I had already been charged over two thousand dollars on my credit card. After being given the typical ***-poor customer service runaround, I talked to the 4th customer service rep who finally was able to pull up our reservation, and it turned out that trip ID code they gave us in the confirmation email was incorrect. When you're dealing with this amount of money, do yourself a favor and book directly with the company. It's just not worth the risk, nor the level of stress I had to deal with.

Thanks for sharing! You called it "the typical ***-poor customer service", but I think Travelocity's customer service is the worst I've ever encountered in any industry.

That makes it especially awful as customer service when one is travelling can be a very urgent matter! I'm glad they eventually found your reservation. I was emailed a confirmation number for the hotel part of a travel package, and no such reservation was ever placed with the actual hotel.

Even after I called Travelocity to tell them that in advance, and they assured me they had fixed it, I arrived to a full hotel with NO booking. So much for Travelocity confirmations....

Travelocity Screwed Me

I made a reservation on Travelocity for a hotel and airfare to Vegas. Less than 1 week later, I called to make a change to the reservation. I actually called to see IF I could make a change. The rep I talked to "Shrek" haha really that was his name. Said, no problem. I can change the airfare and hotel, but I will need to pay a change fee of $75/pp for the air. No problem. He said the hotel is not an issue. Well, I called and changed the air and paid my fee, and they told me after I had paid that there was a chance that the hotel could not be re-booked. Imagine my frustration after paying the fee! Well, it turns out that the hotel could not be rebooked, so I lost my package rate, plus my 2 free show tickets. Had I known, I would have kept my original dates. They read from a script, which is difficult to understand for me. I'm out $'s and a show. I can book my hotel separately, and get a decent rate on another website, but I lose the show tickets and I can't stay at the hotel that I wanted to because the rates are too high without the package. Travelocity scores and I lose! Pass the word!

Beware! Travelocity is consistently Unacceptable!

I have read other complaints about travelocity on this website. It is eary how similar my complaints are. I booked to business flight to North Carolina. I wanted to fly directly into Greenville, but unfortunately was only able to fly into Raleigh/Durham. I called customer support to inquire about changing my flight plans to land in Greenville. Flight dates remained the same, and so forth. I initially was connected with agentleman in India. He was difficult to talk with due to his broken english and my not being able to understand him. I asked several times where he was located? He eventually toldme he was in India. He was not pleasant and I was keft with an impression that he did not appreciate speaking with a woman. He finally told meto call travelocity. This was confusing because I thought I was calling travelocity. I eventually hung up and called travelocity. I was then connected to some gentleman in the Phillipines. After a seemingly long conversation, I was told "he needed to refer me to someone else." I think I was transferred to some gentleman in Phillipines once again but was unsure. This gentleman, the third person speaking english, told me I was using the wrong trip ID. At this point, I requested to speak to someone in America, I spoke with a woman in America, she was very apologetic and helpful.I was told that because I have paper tickets, I would need to drive to MPLS airport, go to the ticket desk of Delta and ask them to physically make the ticket changes. OK, I live ~ 1 hr from the airport, would have to pay parking, with no guarentee that I would be helped. At the end of this conversation, I was told to submit a complaint to consumer.relations@travelocity.com. When attempting to find the website to oficially submit a complaint to travelocity, I encountered this site. I actually feel a cathartic relief responding to this website. I would warn anyone attempting to use travelocity. There are similar patterns of complaints between my complaint and other complaints posted. Beware! Travelocity definitely has major problems with customer service. I would also make a warning to protect woman consumers against feeling discriminated against in a foreign country that did not appear amicable to helping a female american.

My Bed and Breakfast reservation became Bed only in Travelocity

I booked one room with Bed and Breakfast in Hilton Garden Inn Valencia Six Flags through the Travelocity website. I paid a higher price to include Breakfast in my purchase. My confirmation email also showed it's a Bed and Breakfast rate with 15%. But when I checked in to Hilton, the front desk told me the computer showed it's just a room reservation without breakfast. Then I called Travelocity customer service and also spoke to their supervisor. They put me on hold for long time. After arguing with them, NOTHING CHANGED. All I got is a consumer relations email address and I was requested to spend more time to email them and send all required documents after the trip so the error might be fixed. During the argument, I wanted to show the supervisor my confirmation email because he kept saying this computer showed room only. You know what, he told me he was not able to receive my email. I had to email the other department and that department will fix it for me. What kind of customer service was it ? I would never use Travelocity again. (Hilton staffs are very nice. I talked to the front desk again with my situation and my confirmation email printout. They just gave me the breakfast coupon without any question.)

Travelocity - A ridiculous company -- no service at all

I tried to change a minor spelling mistake on an airline reservation. Waited 15 minutes for first agent (at the number given on my confirmation email). He said that's an easy change to make (and important to do) but he could not make it. He connected me to another line. Waited 25 minutes. They answered and said they were Travelocity Canada and could do nothing with my reservation. They connected me to a THIRD number; waited 15 minutes and got disconnected. Tried to email my request. I chose Air Travel as category. The website said I needed to choose a category beneath Air Travel. On my browser, there are none. Cannot send email. Finally selected "Manage my account" and hoped for the best. The real best will be never using this company again. I have been a LONG TIME customer, but no more.

Travelocity - Wrong itineary

After booking a cruise with Travelocity I was looking to book a shore excursion, I went to NCL's web site to see what there prices were versus going with someone else, I discovered that the itinerary that NCL had and what Travelocity had were different. Theres had the ship leaving Honolulu a hour later than NCL. Travelocity also showed that we were in Maui overnight when actually it was a sea day, one less day in Maui than we had planned on. After contacting Travelocity about the error, there only response was that it was all NCL's fault. I am sorry but if you are in the business of selling vacations it is their responsibilty to supply the correct information to the customer. They have the same ability as everyone else to check NCL's website Will never use Travelocity again Don

Travelocity - Port Promotions: Alaska Shore Excursion is a Rip Off

We booked, 4 months ahead, a Port Promotions Alaska shore excursion through Travelocity. It was the Chilkat Rafting and Bald Eagle Preserve, Skagway. We were originally scheduled to be on the 7:15 AM tour. Later, we were moved to the 9:15 AM tour. By the time we arrived at the meeting place 1 hour prior to departure, the operator, Pam, told us we have been moved to 11:15 departure, to accommodate another group. But I said we booked this excursion a long time ago. It did not matter to them. We resisted knowing that the eagles will be very scarce by the time we arrive at the Preserve. Our protests were ignored. We arrived at the Preserve by 1 pm and as we predicted, there were hardly eagles to be found. What a major disappointment. I carried all my camera gear, telephotos, etc. for nothing. I am an eagle photographer as depicted on my website. This is a total rip off by Port Promotions. Beware, folks.

They are wild animals, no one should expect to see any wild animals and if you do happen to see any then you were blessed. I also live in the preserve and in September the eagles really start showing up. You should come to Haines in November and December if you want some great photos.

Anonymous
#297991

You'll see as many bald eagle on the dock in Ketchikan as you'll see in the Preserve during the summer. November is when the eagles gather there (and that's the reason there's a preserve). You would have been just as ripped-off on the morning tour, IMO (I live just north of the preserve).

Travelocity - Scam artists! - will never use again!

I booked a whole trip airlines and hotels through them, and they charged me an arm and a leg for hotel prices. I was looking online at the hotel's website, and their prices were cheaper online - if I had booked directly with the hotel. For the price Travelocity charged me - I should have gotten the hotel's top suite! When I got to the hotel - they gave me the lousiest room they had - apparently I found out that they can't tell how much you've spent with Travelocity so they give the lousiest rooms to ppl who buy through Travelocity - for the price I paid - I should have booked direct with the hotel and gotten my money's worth! I feel jipped!!!!
